Social Event

On Wednesday afternoon, September 17, 2025, we will depart from the conference venue at 13:30 for an excursion to Riegersburg Castle, located east of Graz. The program includes a visit to the bird of prey observatory (sponsored by ISEC, TU Graz), where we will enjoy a live demonstration featuring various birds of prey.

Following the visit, we will head to a traditional Buschenschank, a Styrian wine tavern, to enjoy a relaxed evening with regional specialties (and with scientific lightning talks). The menu will feature locally sourced cold cuts, traditional Styrian fare, and a selection of local beverages.

Bus transfers to and from the conference venue are available for all participants.

How to reach us

By Plane

If you come by plane, the simplest way to get to the venue is to take a taxi from Graz Airport. The fare is ~EUR 35, duration ~30mins.

If you choose the train from the airport:
The fare is ~EUR 3,00 to “Graz Hauptbahnhof” (the main railway station)
Duration: ~20mins
Requires ~100m walk from the airport to the station
Leaves every 30mins.

Within the City

The closest stop to the venue is „Schulzentrum St. Peter“, the station has a connection to tram line 6 and several buses. Due to tram line maintenance by the city of Graz this summer, some tram routes* will be replaced by buses!

Tram Line 6*: station “Schulzentrum St. Peter” (5 min. walk)
Replacement bus E6 commutes between the main railway station, “Graz Hauptbahnhof”, and “Jakominiplatz” (the main point of transfer). On “Jakominiplatz”, you can change to tram 6 to “Schulzentrum St. Peter”.

Bus 63: station “Schulzentrum St. Peter” (5 min. walk)
It’s a direct connection from Graz main Station, but takes a few minutes longer, since it’s not going through the inner city.

Navigation via Google Maps works fine in Graz. Check out this Graz route planner to find your way around. It’s also available for your phone, named GrazMobil.

Public Transport Tickets

You can buy tickets at the ticket machine inside every tram or bus (accepted are coins or cards; no bank notes) or online via the OEBB website or app.
It might be a good option to buy a weekly ticket (~EUR 19,50) for the public transport. It allows you to use every train, tram, and bus within the city. It also lets you use the funicular up Schlossberg hill!
